Steam Gross Revenue Tops $15 Billion in First Eight Months of 2026
Steam is on pace for the biggest revenue year in its history. According to a report from Alinea Analytics lead analyst Rhys Elliott, cited by GoHa.ru, Valve’s platform collected $15 billion in gross revenue through the first eight months of 2026, representing a 15 percent increase over the same period in 2025. If the trend holds, Steam could cross the $20 billion mark for the first time ever by year’s end.
New Releases Driving Growth
Several high-profile launches contributed heavily to Steam’s strong performance in 2026. Among new intellectual properties in the platform’s top 100, Crimson Desert led the pack, pulling in approximately $203.3 million and accounting for around 18 percent of all new IP revenue in that group, according to Gamesradar. Forza Horizon 6 edged ahead with $210.5 million, while Resident Evil Requiem brought in $200.9 million. Meccha Chameleon also cracked the top six new releases with $89.8 million in platform revenue.
| Title | Steam Gross Revenue (2026) |
|---|---|
| Forza Horizon 6 | $210.5 million |
| Crimson Desert | $203.3 million |
| Resident Evil Requiem | $200.9 million |
| Meccha Chameleon | $89.8 million |
Catalog Titles Remain the Backbone
New releases are only part of the story. The report notes that a significant portion of Steam’s overall revenue continues to come from established catalog titles. Games like GTA 5, Fallout 4, and Lost Ark remain consistent earners on the platform, alongside what analysts describe as a strong layer of mid-budget titles that sustain steady spending across the year. This blend of blockbuster launches and long-running catalog performers appears to be a key factor in the platform’s year-over-year revenue growth.
A Potential Historic Milestone Ahead
With $15 billion already booked and several months of the year remaining, including the traditionally busy holiday quarter, the $20 billion threshold is within reach. That figure would represent a landmark for Valve, which has never publicly reported annual gross revenue figures of that scale. The platform’s consistent expansion across new releases, recurring catalog sales, and a growing global user base positions it well to close out 2026 with record numbers.
