Submission Guidelines

Last updated: April 22, 2026

Thank you for contributing to SaveGameVault! These guidelines explain what you can submit, how to prepare your files, and what we will and won’t accept.

What You Can Submit

✅ Save Files

  • Your own playthroughs and progress files
  • 100% completion saves
  • Post-prologue / starter saves
  • Mid-game saves (clearly described)
  • NG+ (New Game Plus) saves
  • Specific checkpoint saves for stuck players

✅ Mods

  • Your own mods
  • Well-known community mods you have permission to redistribute
  • Fan patches, translations, unofficial bug fixes
  • Graphics overhauls, gameplay tweaks, quality-of-life mods

✅ Save Editors

  • Your own editors / trainers
  • Open-source editors from legitimate communities (Cheat Engine tables, unpacked save editors)
  • Historical abandonware editors

What We Don’t Accept

❌ Piracy-Related Content

  • Cracked game files (.exe, DRM-removed executables)
  • Keygens, license key generators, serial numbers
  • Full game installers (even abandonware — link to recognized preservation sites instead)
  • No-CD / no-DVD patches (pre-2010 games are a gray area — case by case)
  • Steam key resellers or account sharing content

❌ Multiplayer Cheats

  • Aimbots, wallhacks, ESP for online games
  • Anything that gives unfair advantages in competitive multiplayer
  • Online-only save editors that affect ranked/competitive progression

❌ Malicious Files

  • Malware, viruses, trojans, keyloggers
  • Ransomware or any file that alters the user’s system beyond the game
  • Bundled crapware or unwanted installers

❌ Copyright Infringement

  • Full game assets (models, textures, sounds) ripped from games without permission
  • Mods based on other people’s work without credit/permission
  • Paid mods repackaged for free (unless the author released them free)

❌ Inappropriate Content

  • Mods containing sexual content involving minors (instant permaban)
  • Extreme violence/gore mods without clear content warnings
  • Content promoting hatred, extremism, or real-world harm

Technical Requirements

File Format

  • Archives: .zip (preferred), .rar, .7z
  • Maximum file size: 100 MB per upload
  • For larger files, use an external host (MEGA, Google Drive) and provide link + mirror

Required Information When Submitting

  1. Game title — exact name as it appears in-game
  2. Platform and version — Steam, GOG, Epic, DRM-free, version number if relevant
  3. Save location path — where to place the file (e.g., %APPDATA%\GameName\saves\)
  4. Description — what the save contains (progress level, items, playtime, etc.)
  5. Installation steps — clear numbered instructions
  6. Compatibility notes — DLC required? Specific game version? Language?
  7. Screenshots — at least 1-2 in-game shots showing the save state (optional but recommended)

File Naming

  • Use descriptive filenames: gta5-100percent-chaos-ending.zip (not save.zip)
  • Avoid special characters, spaces preferred as hyphens or underscores
  • Include version in filename if it’s a mod

Before Uploading

Make sure:

  • [ ] You tested the file on a clean install
  • [ ] You scanned it with antivirus (VirusTotal link helps)
  • [ ] You read the game publisher’s modding policy
  • [ ] You’re not uploading someone else’s work without credit

Review Process

All submissions go through a manual review:

  1. Queued — submission received
  2. Reviewed — checked for virus, copyright, and quality
  3. Published or Rejected — with feedback if rejected

Review time: usually 1-3 business days. Complex submissions may take longer.

Why Submissions Get Rejected

  • Missing required information
  • Description too vague or copied from another source
  • Duplicate of existing content
  • Suspected copyright violation
  • Failed virus scan
  • Violates these guidelines

Rejection usually comes with an explanation and an opportunity to resubmit.

Attribution and Credits

If your submission includes work from others:

  • Always credit the original author
  • Include links to the original mod/save if available
  • Respect licenses — some mods are GPL, CC-BY, or have custom terms
  • Get permission for redistribution if required by the original author

After Submission

Once your submission is published:

  • You can edit it via your account dashboard
  • You can respond to user comments
  • You can withdraw it anytime by contacting us
  • Download stats are visible to you in the dashboard

Your Rights

You retain ownership of your submitted content. You grant SaveGameVault a non-exclusive license to host and display it (see Terms of Service, Section 4.2).
