DMCA / Copyright Policy

SaveGameVault (savegamevault.com) respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects its users to do the same. This policy explains how to submit copyright infringement notices and counter-notices under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) of the United States and corresponding European Union copyright directives.

1. About User-Uploaded Content

SaveGameVault hosts user-contributed content including save files, mods, and save editors. We act as a hosting provider for this content and rely on the safe harbor provisions of:

• 17 U.S.C. § 512 (DMCA Safe Harbor)
• EU Directive 2000/31/EC (E-Commerce Directive)
• EU Directive 2019/790 (Copyright in the Digital Single Market)

We do not actively monitor uploaded content but respond promptly to valid takedown notices.

2. Filing a Copyright Infringement Notice

If you are a copyright owner (or authorized representative) and believe content hosted on SaveGameVault infringes your rights, please submit a DMCA notice to:

Required Information

Your notice must include the following (required under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)):

1. Your identification: full legal name, company (if any), physical address, phone, email
2. The copyrighted work: clear description of the work you own, with evidence of ownership (registration, original URL, etc.)
3. The infringing material: exact URL(s) on savegamevault.com where the allegedly infringing content is located
4. A good-faith statement: “I have a good-faith belief that the use of the material described above is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.”
5. An accuracy statement: “The information in this notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, I am the owner, or authorized to act on behalf of the owner, of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.”
6. Your signature: electronic or physical signature

Incomplete Notices

Notices missing required elements may be rejected. We cannot act on general claims like “your whole site is pirated” — specific URLs are required.

3. Our Response

Upon receiving a valid notice, we will:

1. Remove or disable access to the content within 48 business hours (typically much faster)
2. Notify the uploader of the takedown and forward a copy of the notice
3. Maintain a record of takedown notices

4. Counter-Notice Procedure

If you believe your content was removed in error or due to misidentification, you may file a counter-notice to:

Required Information

1. Your name, address, phone, email
2. Identification of the removed content and its previous URL
3. A statement: “I swear, under penalty of perjury, that I have a good-faith belief that the content was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.”
4. Consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal Court in your district (if in the US) or the courts of France (if outside the US)
5. Your signature

After receiving a valid counter-notice, we will forward it to the original complainant. If no court action is filed within 10-14 business days, we may restore the content.

5. Repeat Infringer Policy

We maintain a policy to terminate accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyright. Users who receive multiple valid takedown notices will have their accounts permanently banned.

6. Misuse Warning

Filing a false DMCA notice is illegal under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f) and may result in liability for damages, including attorney’s fees. Please ensure your claim is legitimate before submitting.

7. Fair Use and Content Displayed on the Site

Game covers, screenshots, publisher logos, platform logos, and game metadata (titles, release dates, descriptions) are displayed on SaveGameVault for informational and editorial purposes. We believe this use qualifies as fair use / fair dealing / quotation right under applicable copyright laws.
