Death Stranding Isolations Anime Announced for Disney+ in 2027

Kojima Productions has pulled back the curtain on Death Stranding Isolations, a brand-new animated series set in the world of the 2019 game, complete with a first teaser trailer and a 2027 streaming window on Disney+.

What Is Death Stranding Isolations?

According to Insider Gaming, the series is not a direct adaptation of the game but rather an original story built around its own cast of characters. The show is set in North America immediately after Sam Porter Bridges reconnects the continent via the Chiral Network, picking up the threads of a world still shaking off the Death Stranding catastrophe. The official story description centers on a young girl whose mother was killed in the Stranding, leaving her to grow up in isolation. Over time she comes to prefer solitude, only for fate to drag her into a world she barely recognizes.

She is joined by several other original characters: a wise old man who connects people through unconventional means, a female soldier caught in a cycle of war, and a boy consumed by rage at the circumstances of his life. The tagline that has been making the rounds, flagged by GamesRadar as exactly the kind of line only a Kojima project could produce, is the girl’s opening line: “My mom became a crater.”

Production Details and Studio

Director Takayuki Sano is helming the project, with animation handled by E&H Production, the studio behind Ninja Kamui, Bullet/Bullet, and the Magic Knight Rayearth television series. Push Square notes the series will use hand-drawn animation throughout. The teaser trailer was revealed on October 30, 2026, via Kojima Productions’ social media channels alongside a separate announcement for Death Stranding Odradek: Tokyo Prototype, a location-based augmented reality experience developed with Niantic Spatial that is available exclusively to attendees of the Kojima Productions 10th Anniversary Exhibition.

The Death Stranding franchise has been steadily expanding beyond its original game, and Isolations represents its first major move into animation.
