Forza Horizon 6 Hits PS5 on January 26 With Day-One Expansion

Playground Games and Xbox have locked in a January 26 release date for the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 6, confirming an earlier leak and putting a firm date on the console’s long-awaited entry into the open-world racing franchise, according to Video Games Chronicle.

Release Date and Early Access Details

Players who purchase the Premium Edition of Forza Horizon 6 will get access up to five days before the standard launch, meaning they can start playing as early as January 21. That early access window also doubles as the debut date for the game’s first expansion, with Premium Edition holders described as being among the first to experience it on day one. Standard players will need to wait until January 26 to get behind the wheel on PS5.

A Delayed but Confirmed Arrival

The January window technically represents a delay for the PS5 version. As VGC notes, Forza Horizon 6 had previously been announced for a 2025 PS5 release, and as recently as September, Playground Games was still publicly maintaining that the port would land before the end of the year. The slip into January 2026 is modest, but it moves the game past its original target window.

Critical Reception Sets High Expectations

PS5 players coming in fresh will have plenty to look forward to based on existing reviews. VGC’s own assessment of Forza Horizon 6 called it an essential racing game and noted that Playground Games had raised the bar set by its predecessor. The outlet credited the developer with building a more engaging and all-encompassing package than Forza Horizon 5, pointing to the volume of racing, exploration, and collection content on offer before any live-service updates even begin layering in additional material.
