CD Projekt has released the complete set of PC system requirements for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered ahead of its September 29 launch, covering six distinct hardware configurations from bare minimum all the way up to path tracing, according to Rock Paper Shotgun. The upgrade is free for anyone who already owns the base game.

Six Tiers of PC Requirements

The spec sheet covers minimum, recommended, ultra, ray-tracing minimum, ray-tracing recommended, and path-tracing configurations. CD Projekt noted in an accompanying blog post that the frame rate targets listed in the table are drawn from internal QA testing and that fluctuations can still occur depending on the scene. Players chasing the path-tracing tier should be prepared to invest in high-end hardware, with the cost of a capable system running well above $2,000, as Rock Paper Shotgun points out.

Configuration Notes
Minimum Entry-level playability
Recommended Stable performance for most players
Ultra High-fidelity visuals without RT
Ray Tracing Minimum Baseline RT support
Ray Tracing Recommended Smooth RT experience
Path Tracing Top-end hardware required

Windows 10 Support Dropped, SSD Now Required

The Remastered update also introduces a mandatory SSD requirement and ends official support for Windows 10. CD Projekt was careful to clarify that the game will not immediately stop functioning on Windows 10 following the update, but the studio is no longer developing or running tests on that platform and cannot guarantee continued compatibility or performance. Support is also limited to hardware components that still receive manufacturer updates, per Rock Paper Shotgun.

Rollback Options and Early Reviews

Players who want to avoid the Remastered update entirely have options. CD Projekt confirmed it will be possible to revert to version 1.32, labeled Classic, or to version 4.04, the previous next-gen update that originally shipped in 2022. Pure Xbox reports that the first reviews for The Witcher 3 Remastered are now live ahead of launch. On the content side, the Songs of the Past expansion is slated for 2027, with The Witcher 4 following in 2028.
