EA Confirms Leaked Iron Man Game Footage Is Legitimate

EA and Motive Studio’s unannounced Iron Man game has been thrust into the spotlight after leaked footage began spreading across social media and forums, with the official game account quickly stepping in to confirm the clip is genuine.

According to Video Games Chronicle, the leaked video runs for more than two minutes and shows what appears to be work-in-progress gameplay. In the footage, Iron Man flies through a city environment, which some observers have speculated could be Chicago, before landing to fight groups of enemies. The clip circulated rapidly on platforms including Resetera before the developers had any chance to respond officially.

EA Responds: ‘Now You Know’

The Marvel’s Iron Man official account addressed the situation head-on in a social media post published shortly after the footage spread online. “Well, that didn’t go as planned. But now you know, and we’ve got a lot more to show you. See you when we’re ready,” the account wrote, per Video Games Chronicle. The tone was measured rather than apologetic, signaling confidence that a proper reveal is still on the way on the studio’s own schedule.

About the Developer

Motive Studio is the Montreal-based team behind the project, with executive producer Olivier Proulx leading development. Proulx previously held a role at Eidos Montreal on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The studio itself has credits that include the campaign for Star Wars Battlefront 2 and, more recently, the well-received Dead Space remake. Marvel Games vice president and creative director Bill Rosemann praised the partnership back in 2022, calling the project “a love letter to a legendary hero in the form of the ultimate Iron Man video game,” as noted by Video Games Chronicle.

Context: EA’s Marvel Slate Shrinks

Iron Man is not the only Marvel project EA has had in the works. The publisher was also developing a single-player, open-world Black Panther game at Cliffhanger Games, which would have featured T’Challa’s son as the playable character. That project was cancelled last year when Cliffhanger Games was shut down, making Motive’s Iron Man title the company’s remaining active Marvel game. No release window or official reveal date has been announced for Iron Man, though the studio’s post makes clear a formal showing is being planned on its own terms.
