Control Resonant Launch Hotfix Forces PC Players to Re-Download
Remedy Entertainment shipped a launch hotfix for Control Resonant shortly after release, but PC players are paying an unexpected price for it: a full re-download of the game. The patch, which targets enemy balance and several quality-of-life systems, inadvertently triggered what the developers described as “certain platform mechanisms on PC,” making a complete reinstall unavoidable for players on that platform.
What the Hotfix Actually Changes
As Insider Gaming reports, the patch arrives as version 1.3.3 on PC, version 01.300.300 on PS5, and version 1.3.3.0 on Xbox Series X/S. The centerpiece of the update is a rework of enemy health and stun thresholds. According to the patch notes, enemies could feel excessively durable in the early hours of the game, so Remedy reduced the base health and the Falter (stun) requirement for most standard enemies, as well as for the Dancer and Deserter boss encounters.
Rock Paper Shotgun notes that the update also bumps up the maximum Aberrant Strength and maximum Ability Strength ceilings, with the gains following a curve that rewards players who have accumulated more upgrades. In short, the further into the game you are, the more pronounced the damage increase becomes.
Dylan Gets Stronger and Cheaper to Rebuild
Beyond raw combat numbers, GameSpot highlights that the update makes build experimentation more accessible. Remedy has permanently cut the cost of respeccing and stocked more Reset Items across every vendor in the game. The first Resonant boss fight, The Artist, now drops two Reset Items instead of one, giving players an early opportunity to course-correct their build without a heavy resource penalty.
The Assist Mode, accessible through the Gameplay menu in the options, also gets a callout in the patch notes. The mode offers sliders that let players dial in enemy aggression, incoming damage, and ability recharge speed, and the notes confirm it can be used to raise the difficulty as well as lower it.
Patch Breakdown by Platform
| Platform | Version Number | Re-Download Required |
|---|---|---|
| PC | 1.3.3 | Yes |
| PS5 | 01.300.300 | No |
| Xbox Series X/S | 1.3.3.0 | No |
UI Fixes and What Comes Next
The hotfix also corrects two English-language UI text entries. The Aberrant Strength stat display, previously labeled “Multiplier X%,” now reads “Damage and Falter X%” for clarity. The Build Power description has likewise been rewritten to list the specific sources that feed into it. Remedy notes that localized versions of these text changes will follow as soon as translations are ready. The studio says it will continue monitoring player feedback and make further adjustments if needed.
