Agefield High: Rock the School
Agefield High: Rock the School is an upcoming 2026 indie action-adventure game developed and published by Refugium Games. Proudly wearing its inspirations on its sleeve, the game is widely anticipated as a spiritual successor to Rockstar’s cult classic Bully, mixed heavily with the raunchy, coming-of-age comedy of early 2000s movies like American Pie.
The narrative drops players directly into the year 2002. You play as Sam, a high school senior whose parents just relocated the family to the small town of Agefield mere months before graduation. On his first day, Sam is befriended by Kale and the self-proclaimed rockstar Axel. The trio devises a grand “Rock the School” plan to pull off the ultimate rebellion, win over their crushes, and cement their status as high school legends before they graduate.
Gameplay
Agefield High features a semi-open world built around the daily schedule of a high school student, requiring players to balance attending classes with executing teenage rebellion.
Key gameplay mechanics include:
- The Time and School System: The game operates on an active daily clock. You are expected to attend classes during the day, featuring five different interactive lesson types: English, Math, Geography, German, and Music. Getting good grades rewards you with pocket money.
- Skipping Class & Rebellion: Players can choose to ditch class to explore the town or complete missions, but doing so means you have to actively avoid teachers, hall monitors, and local police who will bust you for truancy.
- Small-Town Open World: The game features a fully explorable map consisting of the Agefield High School campus, two surrounding residential neighborhoods, a town center, and the countryside.
- Teenage Economics: The money you earn—either honestly through good grades or through completing 15 different side missions—can be spent at local shops. Players can buy new clothes, hairstyles, tattoos, bicycles, and accessories to fully customize Sam’s look.
Development and Anticipation
Set for release in the summer of 2026, Agefield High has garnered significant attention from players hungry for a return to the classic PS2-era schoolyard sandbox genre. With Rockstar Games showing no signs of ever making a sequel to Bully, solo-developer Refugium Games stepped in to fill the void.
Recent gameplay trailers released in April 2026 generated strong buzz, highlighting the nostalgic 2002 setting and the unapologetically classic teen-comedy tone. The developer has promised a highly focused, 8-to-10-hour story campaign featuring 32 main missions and two distinct endings based on the player’s choices.
Key Features:
- The Spiritual Successor — Experience an open-world high school sandbox heavily inspired by the gameplay loop of Bully and the humor of 2000s teen movies.
- Rule the School — Balance a dynamic schedule by choosing whether to attend mini-game classes for good grades or skip school to pull pranks and earn cash.
