Xbox Games Showcase 2026: Every Announcement, Trailer, and Reveal
Xbox Games Showcase 2026 just wrapped — here’s everything Microsoft announced, from Gears of War: E-Day and Persona 6 to a surprise Xbox console exclusive strategy and a 25th anniversary console.
The Xbox Games Showcase 2026 delivered one of the most significant Xbox events in years. Broadcast on June 7 from the Dolby Theatre, the 90-minute show featured over 30 game reveals, a return to console exclusives, and a nostalgia-heavy hardware announcement celebrating Xbox’s 25th anniversary.
The biggest takeaway wasn’t any single game — it was Xbox’s renewed confidence. Under new CEO Asha Sharma, Microsoft confirmed that Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will be Xbox console exclusives. Not timed exclusives. Permanent ones. That’s a clear shift from the multiplatform strategy Xbox adopted in 2024, and it signals that Microsoft is willing to hold back its biggest games to sell consoles again.
Here’s everything that was announced.
The Headliners
Gears of War: E-Day
Release date: October 6, 2026
Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PC (Xbox console exclusive — no PS5)
Game Pass: Day one
The showcase opened with the world premiere gameplay demo for Gears of War: E-Day, and it did not disappoint. The Coalition took players back to Emergence Day — the moment the Locust Horde first erupted from underground and civilization collapsed in hours.
The demo showed a young Marcus Fenix in civilian clothes, fighting through collapsing streets alongside Dom Santiago as the world literally crumbles around them. The tone is darker, grittier, and more intimate than recent Gears entries — this is an origin story about two friends before they became soldiers.
What followed the showcase was a dedicated Gears of War: E-Day Direct, where the development team went deep on story, gameplay mechanics, and the history behind this prequel. Pre-orders are live now, with early access to an open beta beginning August 6.
This is Xbox’s biggest console exclusive bet in years. No PS5 version. No timed exclusivity. Microsoft is drawing a line.
Persona 6
Release date: TBA
Platforms: Xbox, PC, PlayStation (expected)
Game Pass: Day one
After years of speculation, Atlus finally pulled back the curtain on Persona 6. The debut trailer was deliberately cryptic — showing fragments of a new cast, a new city, and the series’ signature blend of daily life simulation and supernatural combat — but it confirmed everything fans needed to know: Persona 6 is real, it’s a completely standalone story, and it’s coming to Xbox Game Pass day one.
That last detail is significant. Persona 5 Royal took years to arrive on Xbox. Persona 6 launching day one on Game Pass signals a much deeper Xbox-Atlus relationship.
Fable
Release date: February 23, 2027
Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PC
Game Pass: Day one
Playground Games showed a new trailer for Fable, introducing the game’s main villain: Isabel, the Hero of Wraithmarsh, played by MCU star Hayley Atwell. Isabel is described as a powerful Hero driven to darkness by her obsession with fixing Albion’s problems — a fallen idealist.
The trailer also teased the return of Jack of Blades, one of the most iconic characters from the original Fable. After multiple delays (most recently pushed from 2026 to 2027), this trailer felt like a statement: the game is locked, the cast is stacked, and Playground is confident.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 — DMZ
Release date: October 23, 2026
Platforms: Xbox, PC, PlayStation, Battle.net
The showcase closed with a first look at DMZ, the extraction mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Players deploy solo or in squads into a volatile conflict zone, recovering advanced military technology in a living combat sandbox where every encounter is a choice.
The campaign is set on the Korean Peninsula as North Korea launches an invasion. DMZ sits alongside the traditional campaign and multiplayer as a separate, persistent mode.
Major Reveals
Halo: Campaign Evolved
Release date: July 28, 2026
Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS5
Game Pass: Day one
Halo Studios confirmed the launch date for Halo: Campaign Evolved, the modernized remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s campaign. The showcase revealed Operation: METEORITE — three brand-new missions set one year before the events of Combat Evolved, featuring Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson on a clandestine operation behind enemy lines, complete with space combat sequences.
Pricing: $49.99 standard, $69.99 premium (five days early access from July 23), $199.99 collector’s edition.
Spyro: A Realm Beyond
Release date: Spring 2027
Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PC
Game Pass: Day one
The first original Spyro game in almost 20 years. Toys for Bob — the studio behind Spyro: Reignited Trilogy and Crash Bandicoot 4 — is bringing the purple dragon back with a completely new adventure featuring true dragon flight. For the first time, players can freely soar through environments, chaining dives, climbs, and tight turns. Longtime voice actor Tom Kenny returns.
Clockwork Revolution
Release date: Spring 2027
Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PC (Xbox console exclusive — no PS5)
Game Pass: Day one
The second Xbox console exclusive announced at the showcase. inXile’s steampunk first-person RPG got a new trailer introducing Morgan’s gang, the Rotten Row Hooligans, and the game’s time-bending Chronometer mechanic. Every decision echoes forward through time. Like Gears of War: E-Day, Clockwork Revolution will not come to PlayStation 5.
DOOM: The Dark Ages — Revelations
Release date: July 7, 2026
Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PC, Battle.net
id Software announced a campaign expansion for DOOM: The Dark Ages. Revelations takes the Slayer into a frozen purgatory with new levels, deeper puzzles, and a new weapon — the Chain Spear.
Senua
Release date: 2027
Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PC
Game Pass: Day one
A surprise reveal from Ninja Theory. Not Hellblade 3 — just “Senua.” Set after the events of Hellblade II, this is a full action-adventure game with tactical combat, multiple weapons, special focus abilities, and interconnected world exploration with boss fights and perception puzzles. A significant creative pivot from Hellblade’s more meditative, linear design.

The controller includes original-color ABXY buttons, transparent back case revealing the classic Xbox logo, and green accents. Both are limited edition, select markets only.
The Bigger Picture: Xbox’s Return to Exclusives
The most significant announcement wasn’t any single game — it was the strategy shift. Two Xbox console exclusives (Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution) signal that Microsoft is partially reversing its multiplatform approach under Asha Sharma’s leadership.
Microsoft was careful to frame this precisely: games already announced for multiplatform releases will remain multiplatform. But going forward, some titles will be held exclusively for Xbox consoles and PC. It’s a calculated bet — use the biggest games to sell hardware while maintaining Game Pass growth across platforms.
Whether this strategy sustains depends entirely on execution. Gears of War: E-Day releasing October 6 will be the first real test.
