Rockstar Games has officially confirmed the price of Grand Theft Auto VI
After months of speculation, Rockstar Games has officially confirmed the price of Grand Theft Auto VI: $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition. Pre-orders open tonight at midnight local time on June 25, 2026. The game launches on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. There is no disc version. And GTA Online is not part of the launch.
The Price and What It Means
The $79.99 base price makes GTA 6 the most expensive standard-edition game ever released on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S at launch. It breaks from the $69.99 price point that has defined AAA console gaming since 2020, and it puts Rockstar in the same territory as Nintendo, which charged $80 for Mario Kart World last year.

The pricing arrives against a difficult backdrop for consumers. As Kotaku notes, a new PS5 or Xbox Series X now starts at $600. Players who have not yet upgraded to current-generation hardware will be looking at spending up to $680 before they can play GTA 6 at all. Some analysts had speculated Rockstar could push the base price to $100 outright. At $79.99, the studio stopped just short of that, though the Ultimate Edition sits at exactly the $100 mark that was considered a psychological ceiling.
GTA 6 is published by Take-Two Interactive, whose press release announcing the price states: “Launching November 19, 2026, for the PlayStation 5 computer entertainment systems and Xbox Series X|S games and entertainment systems for $79.99, Grand Theft Auto VI features a single-player experience set in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet.”
Given how much commercial weight GTA carries, this pricing decision is being watched closely across the industry. If GTA 6 sells as expected at $80, other major publishers will have a clear precedent to follow with their own tentpole releases.
Standard Edition and the Vintage Vice City Pack

The $79.99 Standard Edition comes with a pre-order bonus available to all buyers who purchase before November 20, 2026: the Vintage Vice City Pack, described by Rockstar as “a collection of items that flash back to when the neon burned brightest.”
The Vintage Vice City Pack includes:
- ’55 Vapid Stanier and Shore Court Garage: A two-tone vintage sedan and a personal garage near Ocean Beach, complete with a weapon locker and a fence for depositing stolen goods.
- Retro outfits and hairstyles for both protagonists: Jason gets a pastel linen suit and era-appropriate cut; Lucia gets a red sequin mini dress with curled hair.
- Tropical weapon pattern: A gun skin inspired by Tommy Vercetti’s iconic palm tree shirt, applicable to most weapons in the game.
Players who pre-order digitally via the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store also receive one free month of GTA+, redeemable immediately in the current version of GTA Online and including a GTA$500,000 deposit and various other perks.
All Vintage Vice City Pack items unlock progressively as Jason and Lucia advance through the story, rather than being available on day one.
Ultimate Edition: What the Extra $20 Gets You

The $99.99 Ultimate Edition adds a substantial collection of exclusive vehicles, weapons, in-game shops, and two side missions layered across the main story. Per Rockstar Intel, the full Ultimate Edition content includes:
- ’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy and Paradise Garage: An off-road vehicle suited to the backwoods of Mount Kalaga, stored at a personal garage in Watson Bay.
- ’95 Grotti Cheetah: A retro-futuristic mid-1990s sports car unlocked during the later stages of the story.
- Dinka Enduro motorcycle, Crest Kayak, and Shitzu Squalo watercraft: Located at Jason’s safehouse and Washington Beach respectively.
- Hawk and Little Morgan Revolvers: His-and-hers versions sourced from the Vercetti Estate, with palm-tree-etched grips and Vice City engravings for both characters.
- Personalized weapon variants: Custom-engraved sidearms for Jason (Girardi ES9 pistol) and Lucia (Klose K17 pistol).
- PTT Youngin$ Compound raid: A side mission sending Jason and Lucia into the compound of one of Southside Vice City’s most active gangs.
- Classic Car Collection commission: A special side quest to track down and restore abandoned classic vehicles for an eccentric local collector named Wyman.
- Exclusive vehicle mod shops and a hair salon: Two modification destinations and a salon with cosmetics unavailable in the standard game.
Like the Vintage Vice City Pack items, all Ultimate Edition bonuses unlock progressively through the story chapters rather than appearing at the start. Rockstar has also confirmed that Standard Edition owners can upgrade to the Ultimate Edition at any time after launch, meaning there is no pressure to decide at purchase.
No Disc in the Box
Physical copies of GTA 6 will exist, but not in the traditional sense. Rockstar has confirmed that the physical release will contain a download code inside the box, with no disc included.
The stated reasoning is consistent with how other publishers have handled high-profile launches: no disc means no early copies leaking footage or spoilers ahead of release. Rockstar’s statement specifies that physical versions will be available from November 12 to support pre-loading, with the game itself unlocking on November 19 alongside the digital version.
Pre-loading begins on November 12 for all editions, across all platforms.
No GTA Online at Launch
Buried in the Take-Two press release is a detail that has generated significant discussion: the official description of GTA 6 refers to it as “a single-player experience.” There is no mention of GTA Online or any multiplayer component anywhere in the launch announcement.
GamesRadar notes that while GTA 6 was never announced as a multiplayer title, there had been hope that a new iteration of GTA Online would arrive alongside it. The current version of GTA Online, built inside GTA V, remains one of the highest-grossing live-service products in gaming history. A next-generation successor has been assumed as inevitable, but it is now clear it will not be part of the November 19 launch.
Rockstar has not commented on when or whether a new version of GTA Online is coming. In the meantime, the existing GTA Online in GTA V is reportedly continuing to receive updates and support.
Platforms and PC
GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S only. There is no Nintendo Switch 2 version announced, and no official PC release date has been set, though Rockstar’s historical pattern makes a PC version in late 2027 a safe expectation. The studio typically releases PC editions one to two years after the console launch. No official announcement has been made.
