Insomniac Games is still hard at work on a Marvel’s Venom title for PS5, according to two separate industry sources, keeping alive a project that first came to light through one of gaming’s most significant data leaks in recent memory.

Where the Rumor Stands

According to Push Square, leaker NatetheHate2, who has a solid track record of accurately revealing unannounced projects, has confirmed that Insomniac is actively developing the Venom spin-off. That lines up with earlier reporting from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who pushed back on claims the game had been scrapped earlier in 2026. NatetheHate2 did not provide a timeline for when the project might be announced publicly.

The game was first spotted on an internal Insomniac roadmap that became public during the infamous Insomniac data breach. While the release schedule laid out in those leaked documents has shifted since then, the project has apparently survived those changes and remains on the studio’s agenda.

What Form It Might Take

Sony has not said a word about the title officially, which Push Square attributes in part to the publisher keeping its promotional focus on Marvel’s Wolverine, which is nearing release. There is speculation the game could land as a cross-generation title, releasing on both PS5 and the upcoming PS6, potentially serving a similar role to the one Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales played at the PS5 launch.

Venom is one of Marvel’s most recognizable characters outside of Spider-Man himself, and the Tom Hardy film series demonstrated that mainstream audiences have a strong appetite for the character even when critical reception is mixed. That commercial track record gives a well-made Venom game a real shot at strong sales numbers.

Insomniac’s Marvel Workload

A Venom game would add another title to an already busy Marvel slate at Insomniac. The studio has shipped both Marvel’s Spider-Man entries on PS4 and PS5, along with Miles Morales, and is currently finishing Marvel’s Wolverine. Some fans and observers have noted that the studio’s creative output has been almost entirely tied to Marvel licenses for several years, limiting the kind of original projects the studio built its earlier reputation on.

For now, the game remains unconfirmed by Sony or Insomniac. If the sources hold up, an official announcement could come once marketing attention shifts away from Wolverine’s launch window.
