Shrek 2 Remastered Leaks via Xbox Store Listing
Shrek 2 Remastered has effectively confirmed itself after a premature Xbox Store listing went live and was quickly pulled, with a GTA 6-inspired announcement trailer also leaking online the same day to round out what has been a very loud accidental reveal.
A Leak Building on a Leak
This is not the first time Shrek 2 Remastered has shown up uninvited. According to Insider Gaming, the title was among a batch of games exposed when Steam’s API became publicly accessible and discoverable last month, surfacing the project well before any official announcement. The Xbox Store listing that appeared and disappeared in October represents the second time the game has slipped out ahead of schedule, and this time it came loaded with actual feature details rather than just a title entry.
What the Xbox Store Listing Revealed
Before the page was removed, it disclosed a solid set of upgrades over the original 2004 release. Push Square reported that the remaster has been rebuilt with 4K resolution, improved textures, and a refreshed UI. Two new modes were also listed: a Photo Mode and a Cheat Mode. On the multiplayer side, the game will support up to four-player couch co-op, online play, or a mixed combination of both. Players will also be able to swap between characters freely during combat and puzzle sections.
| Feature | Detail |
|---|---|
| Resolution | 4K with improved textures |
| New Modes | Photo Mode, Cheat Mode |
| Multiplayer | Up to 4-player co-op (local, online, or mixed) |
| Platform (trailer) | Xbox Series X|S |
| More Info Expected | October 20, 2026 |
The GTA 6-Inspired Trailer
Alongside the store listing surfacing, an announcement trailer also made its way online, shared by leaker NotPaloIntel on social media. As GameSpot noted, the trailer opens by replicating Rockstar’s signature art style, fonts, and color palette before transitioning into gameplay footage showing the remastered visuals in action. The clip closes with Xbox Series X|S listed as the platform, with the tweet from NotPaloIntel also indicating that more information is expected on October 20. Pure Xbox covered the confirmation angle, noting the listing effectively makes the project official despite no formal announcement having been made by the publisher.
What Comes Next
With two separate leaks now on the record and a trailer already circulating, a proper announcement seems imminent. The October 20 date flagged in the trailer tweet gives the project a likely window for an official reveal, assuming the publisher does not continue letting the internet do the work for them. No pricing or release date has been confirmed at this stage.
