EverSiege: Untold Ages is a 2026 “hero-driven” action-strategy roguelite developed by Tindalos Interactive (the team behind Aliens: Dark Descent and Battlefleet Gothic: Armada) and published by Dear Villagers. Released on March 26, 2026, the game acts as a spiritual successor to classic Warcraft III tower defense and castle siege mods, blending top-down combat, base-building, and procedural survival.

Rather than a traditional static strategy game, EverSiege is designed around the concept of “reversing the siege”—starting as a desperate defender and evolving into an unstoppable force capable of taking the fight back to the enemy’s lair.

The Premise and Narrative

Set two centuries after a cataclysmic event that shattered the world, humanity’s last hope rests within Bastion, a crumbling stronghold under perpetual assault by the hordes of the “Evil Master” (or the Unraveler). You play as a hero summoned across timelines to defend this final sanctuary.

The story utilizes a time-travel loop mechanic: every failure or victory sends you back to a slightly altered version of reality. As you reclaim lost powers and rebuild Bastion’s ruins, you uncover the history of the “Untold Ages” and the origin of the siege, aiming to finally break the cycle across multiple escalating timelines.

Gameplay: Hero-Action meets RTS Logistics

EverSiege splits its focus between direct hero control and high-level strategic management, creating a gameplay loop that feels like a hybrid of a MOBA and a roguelite.

  • Wargears and Essences: You select a “Wargear” (a hero class tied to a weapon like the Longbow, Twin Daggers, or Great Hammer) and fuse it with “Elemental Essences” (Fire, Ice, Acid, etc.). This creates a highly customizable skill set, allowing for over 70 spell evolutions and unique combat synergies in every run.
  • The Day/Night Cycle: During the day, you explore procedurally generated maps to clear creature camps, find Artifacts, and gather resources. At night, the action shifts to defensive warfare as massive waves of enemies assault Bastion.
  • City Restoration: Unlike many roguelites, you must actively rebuild your base during the match. You choose whether to invest gold in Economic buildings (for better gear and scaling) or Military barracks (to auto-spawn troop waves to hold the lanes).
  • Troop Commanders: While you control your hero, you also manage an army of up to 20 different troop types. You can deploy Mounted Crusaders to charge lanes or set up Catapult lines to fortify your gates.
  • Co-op Coordination: The game supports up to 3-player online co-op, where players must specialize their builds (e.g., one player tanks with a Shield while another focuses on long-range elemental artillery) to survive the higher “Ascension” difficulty levels.

Visual Style and Atmosphere

The game features a vibrant, high-fantasy aesthetic with a slightly stylized, “hand-painted” look that helps maintain clarity during chaotic battles involving hundreds of units. The environments are procedural, shifting between lush jungles, desolate ruins, and scorched deserts. The atmosphere is one of “desperate hope,” underscored by a swelling orchestral soundtrack that transitions from atmospheric exploration themes to intense, heavy percussion during the nightly sieges.

Key Features:

  • The Roguelite Siege — A unique genre mashup where base-building and RTS army management meet the “one-more-run” addiction of a roguelite.
  • Deep Synergy System — Combine 6 Wargears and 6 Essences to discover 15 unique class pairs and over 140 collectible artifacts.
  • Rebuild Bastion — Manage 38 different building types to balance your frontline defense with your long-term economic growth.
  • Procedural Timelines — No two runs are identical; geography, quest locations, and enemy factions shift every time you leap through the chronogate.
  • Ascension Progression — Use the “Time Travel” mechanic to increase difficulty, unlocking new bosses and permanent meta-upgrades for your heroes.

Release Dates:

  • PC (Steam & Epic Games Store) — March 26, 2026.
  • Console Ports — Currently in development for late 2026.
  • Road to Summer Update — Scheduled for June 2026, promising new mid-run saves and the “Mage” character archetype.
