The fate of this company is intertwined with its publisher and benefactor 3DO. Its two creators are Helmut Kobler and Ron Little, and they set up their company in Redwood (California).
Originally, the small company envisioned a shooting game for the Three Dimensional Objects technology, created by engineers from Commodore, to launch the new generation console. Trip Hawkins, former EA engineer, bets on the small studio to deliver a cartoon-style game that will be visually interesting for his 32-bit console.

Captain Quazar and Battlesport are launched to showcase the 3DO console, but Trip Hawkins realized that Sony’s PlayStation was going to take the lion’s share, and he transformed his company into a video game publishing house.
At the same time, 3DO trusts Cyclone Studios and finances its next projects, Uprising or Requiem.
In December 1998, all Cyclone’s debts, linked to high costs and long development times, were absorbed by 3DO.

Cyclone can continue its development of Requiem until its release, but the team has been swallowed up by the publisher who continues its inexorable rise.
The failure of Requiem will signal the disappearance of Cyclone Studios.
