GTA Vice City Widescreen Fix Verified
Description
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City shipped in 2003 with 4:3 displays in mind. Run it on a modern 16:9 or 21:9 monitor and the picture is stretched, the radar and weapon icons sit in the wrong place, and the field of view feels narrower than it should. This widescreen fix by ThirteenAG restores the correct aspect ratio and rebuilds the HUD and menus for your actual screen, so the neon skyline of Vice City finally fills the display without distortion.
Installation is as simple as it gets: extract the archive into the game folder and the plugin loads itself the next time you start the game. Nothing is overwritten, no installer runs, and removing the fix is just deleting the files again. It works alongside SilentPatch, Project2DFX, and other common Vice City mods.
What it fixes
- Correct aspect ratio on 16:9, 16:10, 21:9 and other widescreen resolutions
- HUD, radar, menus and loading screens rescaled and repositioned
- Field of view widened to match the aspect ratio instead of cropping the image
- Dozens of extra toggles in the bundled
.inifile (FOV, HUD scale, resolution, and more)
How to install
- Download the archive below and extract it.
- Copy everything into your Vice City folder — the one that contains
gta-vc.exe. - (Optional) Open the
.inifile in thescriptsfolder to adjust FOV, HUD size or other options. - Launch the game and pick your native resolution in the display settings.
Works with the classic PC release of Vice City (1.0 and 1.1). It is not for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, which uses a different engine and already supports widescreen.
