Nazi-killing fans, rejoice: after nearly a decade since Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, Bethesda’s MachineGames is reportedly hard at work on Wolfenstein 3, multiple outlets confirmed today, January 8, 2026.
The buzz ignited with Windows Central executive editor Jez Corden’s preview of Xbox’s 2026 lineup, hinting the long-teased third chapter is “on the cards” – potentially timed with Amazon’s upcoming live-action Wolfenstein TV series from the Fallout showrunners. Kotaku swiftly corroborated from their own sources, noting the Swedish studio – fresh off 2024’s acclaimed Indiana Jones and the Great Circle – is returning to its signature alternate-history FPS roots.
MachineGames has long envisioned the saga as a trilogy. In a Noclip documentary, studio head Jerk Gustafsson elaborated: “We have always seen this as a [Wolfenstein] trilogy… I think that’s important to say because, at least I hope, that we’re not done with Wolfenstein yet. We have a story to tell.”
Creative director Axel Torvenius echoed in September 2025: “We have always seen this as a [Wolfenstein] trilogy… So that journey for B.J… we still had the plan… What will happen in the second one, what will happen in the third one.”
What We Know So Far:
- Story: Expected to conclude William “B.J.” Blazkowicz’s arc, building on The New Order (2014) and The New Colossus (2017) – ignoring or post-Youngblood (2019 co-op spin-off).
- Gameplay: Single-player immersive sim FPS with brutal combat, stealth, and over-the-top Nazi-bashing, per studio hallmarks.
- Platforms: Likely Xbox Series X|S, PS5, PC (Xbox Game Pass Day One probable).
- Release: No window; 2027+ realistic post-Indiana Jones. Reveal eyed for Xbox Developer Direct or summer showcases.
- Bonus: MachineGames reportedly juggling a Rainbow Six Siege-style multiplayer shooter.
X is ablaze with excitement, from gun salutes in fan communities to calls for “more Nazis to kill.” With Bethesda’s 40th anniversary looming, 2026 could bring the first look.
