Styx Duology Free on Epic Games Until January 22
Epic Games Store is serving up a stealthy treat this week: the first two entries in the cult-favorite Styx series—Styx: Master of Shadows and Styx: Shards of Darkness – Deluxe Edition—are completely free to claim until January 22 at 11:00 AM ET. Head to the Epic free games page to add them to your library—no strings attached, yours to keep forever.
Developed by Cyanide Studio and published by Nacon, these dark fantasy infiltration games put players in the tattered boots of Styx, a cunning goblin assassin navigating towering, perilous worlds filled with humans, elves, and dwarves. Expect hardcore stealth mechanics, RPG skill upgrades, environmental puzzles, and signature goblin tricks like cloning yourself for distractions or turning invisible with magical amber powers.
Styx: Master of Shadows (2014) kicks off the saga in the massive, multi-layered Tower of Akenash. Sneak through shadows, assassinate guards, steal treasures, and uncover Styx’s origins while mastering abilities like “amber vision” for spotting enemies. It’s praised for its organic level design and punishing infiltration gameplay, earning a solid 4.2/5 from Epic players.
The sequel, Styx: Shards of Darkness (2017), amps up the action with Unreal Engine 4-powered open environments—from elven cities to dwarf territories. Tackle smarter enemies and bosses, craft traps, and wield new weapons. The Deluxe Edition sweetens the deal with the Akenash Outfit (extended clone duration) and the acid-dripping Dagger of Akenash for instant enemy dissolution.
The timing couldn’t be better: This giveaway coincides with hype for Styx: Blades of Greed, the third installment launching February 19, 2026, on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Announced last year and recently dated, it promises more goblin mischief in a “shards of greed” world—perfect prep for newcomers.
Epic’s official tease nailed the vibe: “You’ll be goblin up this week’s free games for sure!” Fans on X (formerly Twitter) are already swarming, with posts calling it a “stealth goblin game” steal and reminders to grab before next week’s Rustler – Grand Theft Horse.
Both titles are single-player PC exclusives on Epic this week (minimum specs are modest—GTX 660 or equivalent for the first, GTX 970 for the sequel). Whether you’re a Thief veteran craving vertical stealth or just love anti-hero goblins, now’s your chance to dive in for zero cost.
Don’t sleep on this—claim before January 22, or watch those shadows slip away.
