IO Interactive has pushed back the release of its upcoming James Bond origin story, 007 First Light, by two months. Originally scheduled for January 27, 2026, the online action game will now launch on March 24, 2026 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
In a statement shared today, the Hitman developer explained that the extra time will allow the team to “deliver the quality experience our players expect and deserve.” The delay comes as IO Interactive continues polishing the game’s live-service elements, including its six-week seasonal structure, free story missions, and competitive multiplayer modes.
007 First Light casts players as a young James Bond at the very beginning of his 007 career. The single-player campaign follows Bond on his first mission as a Double-O agent, while the online mode lets players team up with friends or compete in objective-based matches set in iconic Bond locations.
Pre-orders remain open, and all digital editions purchased before launch will include the exclusive “Number One” Operator Pack. Those who pre-ordered the original January release date will automatically receive the updated March date with no additional action required.
The delay marks the second recent shift for a high-profile Bond project, following Amazon’s ongoing Fallout Season 2 airing on Prime Video. Fans eager for more spy action won’t have to wait much longer—007 First Light is now less than three months away.
Stay tuned for new gameplay footage expected in early 2026 as IO Interactive ramps up toward launch.
