After over two years of radio silence since its cinematic reveal, Arkane Lyon’s highly anticipated Marvel’s Blade has received a promising update straight from the studio’s Co-Creative Director, Dinga Bakaba.

Responding to a fan’s Christmas wish for any news on X on December 23, 2025, Bakaba shared: “The team is hard at work, everyone is super proud and out doing themselves. Please be patient, it will be a special game and we all hope it will be meeting the high standards that we set for ourselves and for you all.”

The reassurance comes amid industry turbulence, including the closure of Arkane Austin (makers of Redfall) earlier in 2025, which sparked fears for Lyon’s projects. But with Blade entering full production in early 2024 and a reported $109 million budget, development is charging ahead on Bethesda’s Void Engine.

What We Know About Marvel’s Blade:

  • Genre & Style: Mature, single-player third-person action-adventure immersive sim, blending Arkane’s signature creative combat, stealth, and player agency with vampire horror.
  • Story & Setting: Play as Eric Brooks, the Daywalker half-man, half-vampire, battling a vampire plague in a quarantined, dystopian Paris.
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PC via Xbox Game Pass Day One (PS5 potential TBD).
  • Release Window: Rumored for 2027 or later—no rush from the studio aiming for perfection.

Unveiled at The Game Awards 2023 with a moody CG trailer, Blade marks Marvel Games’ push into premium single-player titles, distinct from live-service experiments. Fans can expect more in 2026, possibly at Xbox Showcase or TGA, as the team polishes what Bakaba promises will be a “special game.”
